The Landcrafters’ Scope: What to Know About the Tampa Bay Landscapers
Michael Tomaino
Working with a professional landscaper in Tampa Bay can be the key to unlocking the full potential of your commercial or residential property. In a competitive market like the Tampa Bay area, it can be hard to filter through all of the companies vying for your business and determine which company is right for you.
Landcrafters has worked hard to differentiate itself by establishing a unique company culture and treating its clients as partners. Over the last two decades, we have refined its process to make working with us as seamless as possible, and the results speak for themselves.
The Landcrafters’ scope starts with a solid foundation and hinged on assessing and evaluating every property to ensure our work is specially tailored to it and our Tampa Bay landscapers are always up to par. Check out our process, as described by landscape management expert Kaylie Gibbons!
The Five-Step Process of Working with Us: Your Tampa Bay Landscapers
There is an art and nuance to crafting a gorgeous landscape. Every property is unique and needs to be treated as such. Landcrafters carefully consider this truth every time it begins work on a new property and implement a guide to help direct that process.
Consider it our way of building a foundation. The basic essentials must be perfected before the details can be addressed. We begin our relationship with you and your Tampa Bay landscape by establishing a strong base on which we can progress. This sets us and your property up for future success.
What are the five vital things to consider? You’ve come to the right place to find out. Read on to discover everything you need to know about Landcrafters’ process.
Irrigation – The Basis for Everything
You’ve likely heard a variation of the saying, “Water is life.” This phrase holds true when it comes to landscaping—without proper hydration, a property cannot support the plant life necessary to create a beautiful environment.
Even in Florida, known for its sunshine and pleasant year-round weather, irrigation is essential. Despite frequent afternoon showers in the rainy season, Florida is no stranger to periods of drought. This is especially true of the time from spring until June when rain can be sparse.
In other words, irrigation is a prerequisite to a lush landscape. Without it, the lack of consistent water can spell disaster for your Tampa Bay area commercial landscape. That’s why is the first step in our process.
We discuss irrigation solutions with each of our clients, giving them a thorough, in-depth recommendation based on the needs and nuances of their property. We then set them up with irrigation technology—like smart systems and micro-irrigation—to ensure their property thrives. We follow that up with monthly audits and inspections to keep it functioning at its best.
Lawn and Ornamental (L&O)
With a property properly irrigated, we can move to the next phase—lawn and ornamental. This step is concerned with keeping your lawn and plants as healthy as possible. Here, we cover everything from A to Z, including fertilization, pest control, disease, fungus, and other factors that could affect or damage turf and other landscaping elements.
This step also involves us setting you up with an L&O service in Tampa Bay. We have a vendor we’ve worked with for years and have come to trust. They are responsible for treating your property’s turf for pests and problems, as well as ensuring nothing else inhibits its progress. They also advise us and our teams on how to help turf thrive during difficult times, such as drought season.
Other responsibilities related to L&O involve plant management, including what certain plants need to grow, what nutrients might be missing, and so on.
Plant Management
Speaking of plant management, it is a vital piece of the landscaping puzzle. Your commercial landscape is an asset and an investment—we want to help it thrive. This requires constant evaluation of the plants that compose your landscape, as well as the removal and replacement of those at the end of their lifecycle.
For example, some plants may be several decades old. While they may still be living, their appearance and productivity may no longer be up to standard. Other plants that may be struggling or failing to reach their potential might not require replacement. Instead, they need additives and strategic irrigation to excel—things that L&O advise on.
Landscape Management
To enjoy the year-round benefits of Florida’s generous climate, a commercial landscaping management strategy must be developed and implemented. At Landcrafters, we have two primary plans that we offer—a 42-week plan and a 51-week plan.
These plans are thorough and would require a deep dive to give you the full picture of what they entail. To keep things brief, we’re going to touch on the highlights here (be sure to check out our blog for a more detailed overview).
The 42-week plan includes bi-weekly visits from November until April 1 (the dormant season) before resuming weekly visits during the growing season (summer). This is our most common package. The other option is our 51-week plan. It involves visits every week of the year aside from Christmas and New Year’s. We highly recommend this route, especially for properties that require constant care, enhanced attentiveness, and a finer touch.
With either option, your Tampa Bay landscape is receiving year-round services within the scope of our agreement.
Quality Audits
In landscaping, there is no such thing as “set it and forget it.” Every property requires regular evaluation to identify areas of concern, adjust accordingly, plan upgrades, and maintain a healthy, good-looking landscape. Rather than opting for the industry minimum of “mow, blow, and go,” Landcrafters takes caring for your Tampa Bay landscape to the next level by performing routine quality audits.
These quality audits serve several purposes, including giving us the opportunity to connect with our clients face-to-face. This helps both parties, as we can educate each other, discuss the landscape as we physically walk it, and determine the best course of action going forward. It’s a bit like iron sharpening iron, and everyone benefits.
We consider quality audits to be one of the most essential aspects of our unique landscaping approach. From solidifying personal connections to ensuring our consistency is up to standard, the advantages of quality audits are profound—trust us; you’ll notice the difference!
